On each album I try to include one tune that Chet Baker has recorded. "Look For The Silver Lining" written in 1920, is one of these songs. I didn't try to emulate Chet's style in my playing but some reviewers have said it sounds like him (which I take as a compliment) The entire song was recorded in one take at Randy Dorman's studio in Nashville. I left it the way it was with no changes as it seemed to capture that "live" feel I was looking for that convey the essense of the music. The words to the song are also especially meaningful to me as they have always represented my outlook on life in general. - Dan J.
LYRICS: LOOK FOR THE SILVER LINING
Look for the silver lining
When e'er a cloud appears in the blue.
Remember some where the sun is shining,
And so the right thing to do,
Is make it shine for you.
A heart, full of joy and gladness,
Will always banish sadness and strife.
So always look for the silver lining,
And try to find the sunny side of life.
