JAZZ IMPROV INTERVIEW FEEDBACK
Dan,
That is a wonderful article in Jazz Improv magazine and stated with so much clarity, experience and insight. Although I'm basically out of the jazz scene now, other than arranging for big band, and mostly into composing, I see how what you've written can be applied to all music and performance. They were fortunate to include such an interview.

Yo ~
I think its really phenomenal that you stuck with this and that you
are creating a career at this time in your life. Examples of great musicians who stuck around and
became embraced by their peers!
I think you are setting the example that there is no time line for art. The key to just really be true to the art itself and therefore you are suceeding in that moment!

Dan, you and I will always be true friends and I do appreciate the common interests, some common trials and tribulations too, and the fact you and I are both still doing the heart felt creative things... we all can sometimes get beat up or distracted and off the path, but we are all meant to be happy and to pursue things other than just mundane tasks in life. Your friendship and emails do mean a lot. I hope we can play together again sometime soon.

FEEDBACK: Clifford Brown comparison
Dan,
I think it was Buck VanderMeer who made the original "Clifford Connection." He did not at the time explain the connection but it is amazingly simple. A jazz solo is nothing more or less than a search for an alternative melody line. In order to be great at jazz improvisation the artist must have a great sense of melody. You and Clifford have/had that. Suggest you play and record "I Remember Clifford" as a slow ballad.

COMPARISION TO CHET: Kurt in Sweden
Yes, a litle bit of Clifford in your playing, but also a litle bit of Chet. There is a lot of nice cats in heaven, but also some still among us. I´m glad to say that (you are) here.

Dan,
We had a great time last night. It was the best band/dinner night we have had since my wife Kathy and I have been up here.
Thank-you, for helping us make it a great success!
